The point of a private office in a business center is that one monthly rate covers what a small company would otherwise buy and manage itself. But "all-inclusive" means different things at different places. Here is exactly what an Icon Centers private office includes, what is an add-on, and what depends on the building.
Included in the monthly rate
- Furniture: a desk, chair and storage. Bring your laptop.
- Wi-Fi and utilities, in the rate rather than billed separately.
- The shared kitchen.
- Printing and scanning, shared with the center.
- Mail and package receiving for your company during business hours, held for you at the center.
- Conference-room hours each month with most offices; your quote shows how many.
For example, the current private window office special at 121 S Broad (2–3 people) is $1,900 / month and includes Wi-Fi, utilities and 5 free conference-room hours a month. See all current specials.
Mail and your business address
Mail and packages for your company are received at the center during business hours and held for you. Mail is handled by our own staff inside the suite and released only to you or to someone you have authorized in writing.
You can use the center's address to register your business or open a bank account. If the address matters more than the desk, a virtual office plan through our sister company Same Day Virtual gives you the address and mail handling without an office.
Add-ons
Two things cost extra: phone answering and meeting-room time beyond your included hours. Meeting rooms are booked by the hour or the day, on the live booker, by phone or by asking us.
Meeting-room bookings not cancelled three business days before the booking are non-refundable, so plan big meetings with that in mind.
Set by the building, not by us
Icon Centers operates the office suites; the buildings are owned and managed by others. That means a few things are set by each building and vary from one to the next:
- Parking: most buildings have parking nearby or on site, paid separately. At 11150 Olympic there is an on-site parking structure.
- After-hours access: business hours are Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm; access outside those hours depends on the building.
- Lobbies and building amenities, including how visitors check in.
We go over all of this for your center on the tour, so there are no surprises after you move in.
Types of office
- Interior office: the quiet, economical choice for one to three people. No window, full privacy, the same amenities as every other office in the center.
- Window office: one to three people with daylight and, on the higher floors, a view. The most requested type.
- Private suite: two to four connected offices behind one door, for a small firm that wants its own front door inside the center.
Sizes vary by center, from single offices to offices for up to ten people at 201 Wilshire in Santa Monica.
How pricing works
Pricing depends on the center, the office and the term. We quote exact numbers on a tour or by phone. A security deposit may apply depending on the office and term; it is spelled out on your quote before you sign anything.
Longer agreements earn free months. Read month-to-month office terms explained for how the options compare.
Guests and clients
Your clients can meet you in your office or in the conference room. Visits are by appointment: some centers do not have a staffed desk at all hours, so we explain how arrival works at your center and you send your guests the instructions, rather than relying on someone being at a front desk.
A checklist for any quote
- Is furniture included, and can I bring my own?
- Are Wi-Fi and utilities in the rate?
- How many conference-room hours a month are included, and what does extra time cost?
- What does phone answering cost, if I want it?
- Is there a deposit, and how much?
- What is the notice period?
- How do parking and after-hours access work in this building?
- How are mail and packages handled?
